Why ESCDUH e.V.?

What do we stand for?

Enugu State Cultural and development Union Hamburg is a Union that promotes peace, unity and wellbeing of Enugu State indigenes living in Hamburg and it’s environs.

The Union is also , used as a platform to promote good relations with the citizens of our host Nation and by extension, other people of different cultural backgrounds. Futhermore the Union serves as a platform for showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Enugu State and the people of Igbo descent in general.

Formed in 2002, the Union is duly registered since 2005 as non profit organization which seeks to mitigate the suffering of less privileged people in Enugu State .

Financially the Union generates her funds through membership contribution & donations of both monetary and non-monetary nature by members, corporate organizations and public.

This picture symbolizes the mutiny of courageous workers against the oppresive and unjust treatment by the british mine operator on November 18th, 1949.

This resistance ended with a massacre of 21 victims, creating a spirit of independence and will that contributed to independence in 1960. As the people of Enugu, we know the importance of the statue and are honored to use it as our symbol.

Ogene is the most symbolic fundament of our culture. It is means generally means alot to the Igbo people. Our Union strives to introduce of ogene music in Hamburg already having it ogene team.
